Traction elevators

Traction Elevators

Traction elevators move using a system of steel ropes or belts. This configuration enables them to move
faster than hydraulic elevators. They can also travel longer vertical distances, making them ideal for midrise, high-rise, and even ultra-high rise buildings.
Traction elevators are available in below types

  • MRA – Machine room above – The MRA elevators have a dedicated machine room above the
headroom of the shaft. This machine room is necessary as the motor size of these elevators is
bigger. MRA elevators can handle higher speeds and capacities.
  •  MRL – Machine room less – MRL Elevator machines are located in the hoist way, eliminating the
need for a traditional machine room. They are designed for low- to mid-rise buildings having up
    to 250 feet of rise.
